Texas Legal Services Center (TLSC), through its flagship initiative TexasLawHelp.org, provides free, reliable, and up-to-date legal information to low-income Texans who cannot afford traditional legal representation. As one of the state’s most comprehensive online legal resources, the nonprofit organization serves a critical role in the community by housing free legal guides, articles, court-approved forms, and a directory of free legal aid clinics and organizations.
TexasLawHelp.org, designed to address the needs of those facing challenges within the civil law landscape—such as family law, housing, and government benefits—sees more than 5 million unique visitors and over 15 million page views each year. With such expansive content, Texas Legal Services Center faced an ongoing challenge: ensuring equal access to these resources for all Texans, regardless of the language they speak.
The Need for Multilingual Website Translation
The primary challenge for TexasLawHelp.org was ensuring that its content was accessible to the state’s diverse and multilingual population. Due to the expansive nature of the content and the frequent updates required to keep legal information current, maintaining a multilingual site with limited staff and resources was impossible. Without a solution, many Texans would continue to face language barriers, unable to fully benefit from the site’s resources.
“We wanted to ensure that all our site visitors had equal access to free, up-to-date legal information, regardless of the language they speak,” said Amanda Hill, Director of Strategic Projects and Innovation at Texas Legal Services Center. “This is critical to our mission of achieving ‘Equal Justice for All.’”
To overcome this barrier and better serve the community, TLSC turned to MotionPoint for its specialized translation services.
Implementation and Project Success
From the start, Texas Legal Services Center leveraged MotionPoint’s Beyond Word Services and worked closely with MotionPoint’s project management team. “We had a wonderful experience with our Customer Success Manager, Melissa Winger,” said Hill. “Melissa was supportive, accessible, and responsive to our needs. This glossary became an essential tool for TLSC, guaranteeing the organization’s brand voice and content reliability were maintained, regardless of the primary language of its audience.
